WHAT’S ON?

Get ready for the annual Latrobe Esports Cup, proudly supported by Visit Latrobe City! Join us for a thrilling weekend of esports and video games at the Traralgon Town Hall in the Latrobe Performing Arts Centre.

Open to everyone, with a prize pool valued at $1,000+ spread across tournaments in Street Fighter 6, FC 24 and Halo: Infinite 2 v 2 plus community events showcasing Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Mario Kart 8!

Exclusively for schools, we’ll be hosting competitions in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8, Just Dance, and a Minecraft build challenge, along with an insightful talk on Careers in Esports.

Join the fun, meet like-minded players, and prove your skills to be crowned the Latrobe Cup champion of 2024!

Not interested in competing? We will have free play gaming all day! Drop by with your family or friends and hang out with like minded gamers in the backdrop of tournaments at well.

Join in the SF6 tournament today to show off your skills to compete for a share of the $500 prize pool.

Format:

Played on PC, players are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined. Matches will be in a best-of-1 double elimination format, semi finals and finals will be best-of-3.

A maximum cap of 32 players is available for this competition.

Prizes:

1st place will receive $200
2nd place will receive $50

Halo: Infinite 2v2

Join in the Halo: Infinite tournament with a friend today and prove you have the quickest reflexes in the region for a share of the $500 prize pool.

Format:

Played on the Xbox One Series S, matches will be in a best-of-1 double elimination format in a 2v2 Custom Game mode Team Slayer, semi finals and finals will be best-of-3.

A maximum cap of 16 teams is available for this competition.

Prizes:

1st place will receive $400
2nd place will receive $100

FC 24

Join in the FC 24 tournament today and prove your skills on the pitch for a chance to win a share of the $250 prize pool!

Format:

Played on the Xbox One Series S, players are given limited chances to set their best time on a track chosen by staff on the day. Matches will be in a best-of-1 single elimination format, semi finals and finals will be best-of-3.

A maximum cap of 32 players is available for this competition.

Prizes:

1st place will receive $200
2nd place will receive $50

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Community Event

Join in the SSBU community event today to show off your skills to compete for a $350 worth of JB Hi-Fi gift cards!

Format:

Played on the Nintendo Switch, players are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined. Matches will be in a best-of-1 double elimination format, semi finals and finals will be best-of-3.

A maximum cap of 64 players is available for this competition.

HIGH SCHOOL DAY

Friday 9th August will be the esports day only available for high school students. Speak to your teacher about participation. For primary school students we recommend joining the Open day on the 10th August with their parents.

Format:

Played on the Nintendo Switch in 1 v 1 format, school students are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined. The winning school will be the school with the highest average placement.

Just Dance

Join in the Just Dance tournament today and represent your school in a showcase for which school has the best dancers!

Format:

Played on the Nintendo Switch, players will dance to three different songs, chosen by tournament officials on the day, earning points for each dance with the player with the most total points and school with the highest average points being declared the winners.

Minecraft

Join in the Minecraft build competition today and represent your school in a showcase for which school is the most creative!

Format:

Played on PC competitors will be given a prompt by tournament officials on the day and given a set amount of time to build something.
Tournament officials will then judge all builds and decide on a winner

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the event open to anyone?

This event is open to all. Players must be aged 13 years or older to compete in the esports competitions, those under the age of 16 we kindly request they obtain their parent’s permission to participate.

Are there any other restrictions to play?

Each game has a player cap, please check the information above to confirm how many can register for each event. Registrations are accepted on a first-in best-dressed basis. Players of all skill levels are welcome!

The games you've chosen are amazing, but what if I play something else?

Never played the games on offer and think you may actually like them? Don’t be afraid. Sign up anyway. We won’t judge.

In the future we may have other games on offer, follow our socials to hear about any future tournaments or let us know if you have a suggestion!

And exactly how does one win?

It’s a numbers game.

Players will compete over the course of the tournament. The best of the best will face each other in a Grand Finals to determine who the ultimate winner.
