The Australian Esports League have teamed up with the organizers of Science Alive to host a gaming zone with a variety of esports competitions running over the course of the event! This includes school focused tournaments on the Stem Day out, 2nd August and a series of open tournaments over the weekend, 3-4th August.

The Australian Esports League is thrilled to announce our participation in the upcoming Science Alive event, where we will host an exciting gaming zone with esports tournaments. Mark your calendars for this incredible experience:

STEM Day Out – August 2nd:
A special day dedicated to schools, focusing on the educational aspects of gaming and esports. Students will have the opportunity to participate in various tournaments and activities designed to highlight the intersection of gaming and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics).

Open Tournaments – August 3rd and 4th:
Join us for open tournaments over the weekend, where gamers of all ages can compete in thrilling competitions in Street Fighter 6, Overcooked 2, NBA 2k, FC 24 and Mario Kart. While there are no prizes, the glory of victory and the thrill of competition await!

For anyone not looking to compete the AEL will have a gaming free to play zone active each day!

This fast-paced, cooperative cooking game challenges players to prepare and serve a variety of dishes in chaotic and ever-changing kitchen environments. Compete against other teams to see who can manage the heat and deliver the most orders in the shortest time.

Tournament Details:

  • Dates: August 3rd and 4th
  • Times: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM each day
  • Format: Double-elimination
  • Registration: On-site registration only, arrive 30 minutes prior to start time to sign up

Gather your team, sharpen your knives, and get ready for a deliciously fun and intense competition at the Science Alive event. May the best chefs win!

Format:

Played on PC, players are seeded into a tournament bracket teams of two to compete in a bracket.

A maximum cap of 16 teams is available at each allotted competition time.

Street Fighter 6

Step into the ring and showcase your fighting skills in our Street Fighter 6 tournament! This iconic fighting game series returns with new characters, stunning graphics, and intense gameplay. Players will face off in head-to-head battles, employing strategy, quick reflexes, and mastery of special moves to defeat their opponents.

  • Times: 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM each day
  • Format: Double-elimination
  • Registration: On-site registration only, arrive 30 minutes prior to start time to sign up

Played on PC, players are seeded into a tournament bracket to play against one another until the champion is determined.

A maximum cap of 16 players is available for this competition.

Mario Kart 8

Rev up your engines and get ready for the Mario Kart tournament! This beloved racing game features iconic characters, exciting tracks, and thrilling power-ups that add a twist to every race. Players will compete in high-speed races, dodging obstacles and using items to gain the upper hand and cross the finish line first.

Tournament Details:

  • Dates: August 3rd and 4th
  • Times: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM each day
  • Format: Time trials and knockout rounds, 150cc, no kart restrictions
  • Registration: On-site registration only, arrive 30 minutes prior to start time to sign up

Show off your racing skills and battle it out for the top spot on the podium. Join us at the Science Alive event for a fun and competitive Mario Kart experience that promises excitement for racers of all ages!

Format:

Played on Nintendo Switch, players are seeded into race heats and compete in grand prix mode to determine the best players.

A maximum cap of 32 players is available for this competition.

Players will compete in thrilling matches, showcasing their skills in dribbling, passing, and scoring goals to dominate the field.

Friday August 2nd will be the esports day only available for high school students. Speak to your teacher about participation.

STEM Day Out

Proudly presented by Inspiring SA. Join us for an exhilarating STEM Day Out on August 2nd, dedicated to schools and designed to inspire students through the world of gaming and esports. Running from 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM, this special day will feature three exciting tournaments:

Minecraft Capture The Flag: Up to 8 Teams of 4 students will strategize, build defenses, and outmaneuver their opponents to capture the flag in this fast-paced, team-based challenge. Creativity, teamwork, and quick thinking are essential to claim victory.

Minecraft Build Challenge: Up to 20 Teams of 2-4 will showcase their creativity and problem-solving skills by constructing impressive structures based on given themes. This competition highlights the importance of collaboration and innovation in STEM fields.

Just Dance: Up to 64 students can participate in this energetic and fun dance competition. Show off your best moves and rhythm to climb the leaderboard and win medals.

Winning students in each tournament will receive medals, and pre-registration is a must. STEM Day Out is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in interactive, educational, and entertaining activities that emphasize the value of teamwork, creativity, and strategic thinking in the STEM disciplines. Don’t miss out on this unique and inspiring event!

Just Dance

Join in the Just Dance tournament today and represent your school in a showcase for which school has the best dancers!

Format:

Played on the Nintendo Switch, players will dance to different songs in heats, chosen by tournament officials on the day. Students will earn points for each dance with the player with the most total points and school with the highest points being declared the winners.

Minecraft

Join in the Minecraft build competition today and represent your school in a showcase for which school is the most creative!

Format:

Using Xbox One Series S, competitors will be given a prompt by tournament officials on the day and given a set amount of time to build towards that challenge.
Tournament officials will then judge all builds and decide on a winner

Minecraft

Join in the Minecraft Capture the Flag today and represent your school in a showcase for which school is the most creative!

Format:

Played on PC, competitors will work in teams of four to capture the opposing teams flags to score points, the highest scoring points within the time limit wins. Teams will compete through a bracket to determine the ultimate school champions!
