About This Competition
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a high-speed platform fighter that acts as a test of mental agility and reaction time. Unlike traditional fighting games, the goal is not to deplete a health bar but to “launch” opponents off the stage using physics and momentum. It is a 1v1 sport akin to tennis or fencing, where success relies on reading your opponent, adapting strategies mid-match, and maintaining total emotional control under pressure.
Smash Bros (Rated PG) teaches accountability. In a solo sport, there is no one else to blame for a loss. This builds incredible resilience and sportsmanship, teaching students to analyze their own mistakes, respect their opponent’s skill, and improve through disciplined practice.
Format & Structure
- League Phases: Weeks 1-5 features a Swiss style system, ensuring students are matched against opponents of similar skill levels each week.
- Finals: The top-ranked players progress to the elimination playoffs in Week 6, culminating in a National Grand Final.
- Squad Size: Matches are played 1v1. Schools may register any number of students and must ensure they can field their players every week.
