2020 Riverina Cup

Wagga Wagga City Council and the AEL are hosting the inaugural ‘AEL Riverina Cup’, an online video game competition dedicated to gamers who live in the Riverina area!

Wagga City Councillor Dan Hayes said the tournament had the potential to grow into a popular annual activity which could leverage off the global popularity of Esports. Registrations open 11th September with first round of competition starting 28th September with players competing for a share of the $1,400 prize pool!

The 2020 Riverina Cup

The inaugural 2020 Riverina Cup presented by Wagga Wagga City Council is a free to participate online competition available to all residents in the Riverina area!

Competition will play over four weeks featuring team play in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (5 v 5) and Rocket League (3 v 3).

There is a $1,600 prize pool on offer split across 1st, 2nd and 3rd place for each game!

Participate for some fun, meet like-minded players and prove you are the best of the best to be crowned the Riverina Cup champion of 2020!

Format

The tournament will be split into 2 stages:

Stage 1 – Qualifiers: Players will play through the weekly stages to advance towards the finals, make sure to read the rules for detailed format information covering each game.

Stage 2 – Finals: The top teams will compete in a finals series determine the ultimate winner

Join in the 3 v 3 Rocket League tournament today, available Cross platform (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC).

When:

Every Monday starting 28th September until 19th October from 6:00pm AEST
Finals will be held Monday the 19th October from 6:00pm AEST

Prizes:

1st place will receive $100 in gift cards each ($300 total)
2nd place will receive $50 in gift cards each ($150 total)
3rd place will receive $25 in gift card each ($75 total)

Is the AEL Riverina Cup open to anyone?

This event is open to all for residents in the Riverina area of New South Wales, Australia. Players must be aged 13 years or older to compete in Rocket League, those under the age of 16 we kindly request they obtain their parental permission to participate. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is strictly 16+.

How many players can register?

There is no limit to how many can participate, so feel free to sign-up today and invite some friends along as well!

The games you've chosen are amazing, but what if I play something else?

Never played CS:GO or Rocket League and think you may actually like it? Don’t be afraid. Sign up anyway. We won’t judge.

In the future we may have other games on offer, follow our socials to hear about any future tournaments.

And exactly how does one win the AEL Riverina Cup?

It’s a numbers game.

Players will compete over the course of the tournament. The best of the best will face each other in a Grand Finals to determine who the ultimate winner.
