We are looking to crown the best Rocket League university team in Australia! Tune in each week and support your University in this intense 3v3 competition against your peers and rival universities.

The WINNING team will play on stage at the Grand Final event for a share of the prize pool and the inaugural University Cup!

ABOUT THE TOURNAMENT

The best will be crowned!

This event is brought to you by the Australian Esports League and is sanctioned by the Australian Esports Association.

The 2018 AEL University Cup for Rocket League will be 3v3 and is held over each study semester, with teams required to register for each semester separately. The tournament takes place in two phases.

Online – Do you have what it takes?

Registered teams are placed into a swiss format bracket. Teams will play 3 games per match till the remaining teams reach the top-8 playoffs where Best of Five (Bo5) matches will take place.

Grand Finals – Do it on stage!

The top two teams WIN a travel package to attend the Grand Final event and play on stage representing their university to take home a share of the prize pool and the University Cup!

PRIZES AND OPPORTUNITIES

The 2018 AEL University Cup for Rocket League features a total prize pool of AUD $3,600 split across the two semesters.

Each semester the top two teams will earn an experience of a lifetime! With flights and accommodation to play on stage at the live Grand Final!

The ULTIMATE champion will take home the inaugural University Cup and title for Rocket League.

Congratulations RMIT Esports Black from RMIT University for taking first place and earning the AEL University Cup for semester 1 of 2018 and title of best University Rocket League team in Australia!

  • 3rd place: Light Rail Dreamers from USNW
  • 4th place: QUT Rocket League Orange from Queensland University of Technology

Semester 2 – Prize Distribution

Total Prize Pool – $1,800

  • 1st Place – $1,200
  • 2nd Place – $375
  • 3rd Place – $150
  • 4th Place – $75

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

Matches will be scheduled for Wednesdays from 6:30pm AEST and all matches must be played by the following Friday.

2018 Semester 1 Schedule:

  • Registrations open: 1st March
  • Registrations close: 28th March
  • Preliminaries: 2nd April – 4th May
  • Playoffs: 14th – 25th May
  • Grand Final event: 2nd June in Sydney, Australia

2018 Semester 2 Schedule:

  • Registrations open: 16th July
  • Registrations close: 6th August
  • Preliminaries: 13th August – 21st September
  • Playoffs: 24th September – 5th October
  • Grand Final event: TBA
